Tiger musky mission

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I have found myself on a mission as of lately. Been throwing baits on a local tiger musky fishery since season opener and with around 20 hours of casting not a sign of a tiger. Anyone have some good advice for finding them this time of the year? What baits to throw? Thanks a lot!

I've been on the same mission for 2 weeks now mad

Had one follow in on Phalen then just hover below the boat for a few seconds, wouldn't react to a figure 8.

I've just been hitting outside weedlines. I thought last night would be good as I was on Phalen and kept seeing multiple surface ripples, made me think something was tearing though the weeds after the panfish. No luck though

Keep at it. Maybe sometime we can team up on tiger mission in the metro

Keep throwing guys!! I fish Tigers a lot. This is my worst June for Tigers in about 10 years.I have about 22 hours so far with no Tigers in the net. I had 2 Tigers miss a small glider so far. Both these fish came from real thick clumbs of weeds in the 5 to 7ft of water. One fish was small and the other one was pushing high 30"s.

Good luck!

the funny thing is i have been throwing some pretty big baits and have been having pike and bass success. I keep hearing use smaller baits, but i'm confused as to why snake northerns and small bass are hitting some medium/larger baits. i'm not doubting the small bait theory i'm just confused so far. Good lucks peoples anyone who fishes lake johanna is welcome to meet up sometime.

my best window for TC tigers is late june early july,,,calm with the humidity so high you can feel it press against your skin

calm and humid is good for tigers

not limited to but if you concentrated on the first two hrs of daylight and the last hour of daylight

all I ever throw now mostly is a CJ's double willow blade small spinnerbait in chartruse.

a doctor spoon works good too

Have had a lot of luck for tigers with a simpler sucker minnow bobber rig... Go get your self 3 or 4 jumbo sucker minnows, a big bobber set with a hook harness. I set it up just about even with weed beds and let the musky come out and attack it.

Give it a shot who knows

They are sure snapping in the last two days. Buddy got out two days ago and got 3 over 30" with the biggest being 35". So I went out last night with him since I've never stuck one, and got my first! It was 30" but a very memorable fish. He got a 36" on his second cast and then another 30". Safe to say, he's going out again tonight but I can't make it.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
