Reel question

Carpenter

Question

What size spinning reel do you typically use on a general purpose walleye rod. 4/6/8 lb reel or 6/8/10 lb reel? Spooling it with braid. The reels I'm choosing between are the pflueger president 6925 and 6930. I think I've previously chosen the 30, but with the braid is the bigger size necessary?

Thanks

I use the 6930 on all my walleye set ups. You are going to get a little bit more line on your retrieves per crank and max drag is higher, but it adds a bit more weight. I like a little more pulling power, but they are pretty much the same.

Ive recently found that the 1000 series shimano and the 25 series Pfluegers are about the same size.....I too like the 1000 on all my open water rods, Never had an issue or need for anything bigger other than on my pike/catfish/snapping turtle gear.
