my dad and his buddies just got back from mahkwa lodge and said that it was the slowest fishing they had ever had and they have been going for many years...

I heard the water level is down a little bit from normal but not bad by any means.

Sounds like the walleyes are a little ahead of schedule so expect to try spots that produce in July. From the reports I have heard, the fish are biting well.

I'm just hoping for some decent weather. Last year we had 5 days of crappy weather and East winds.

Our group is taking off tonight! We'll be hitting the SE side of the lake, will be able to provide day to day reports with the free wifi being available (let's hope it actually is working at the cabin). Reports from another party who fished last week is that fish are scattered. It doesn't look like there will be any consistent wind patterns so I expect that pattern to continue. Praying for West winds though! Hopefully we don't get dumped on with rain!

We were at the Lac Seul Resort and fished Lost Lake and the Grassy Bay area of the Lac Seul June 6 through 11. This was our 13th consecutive year. We had consistent light winds from the E and SE most of the time with rain off and on throughout the week. We had to work to find the walleyes but when we did they were more than willing to bite. Seemed wherever we tried we could pick up one or two but that would be it until we found them. Once we found them it was nothing to pick up 50 to 100 walleyes in a short time. Found them on sand more than rocks. Also did well at Pelican Rapids. Deception didn't seem to produce for us at all.

Water level was about average to slightly below average. Surface temps were 72-74 degrees. Our primary tactic was jig and minnow or leech. Some trolling cranks but that wasn't productive.

Eyes have been found in 8-25 fow with our best action coming in 10-15 fow near or in current next to points. We have been catching an endless amount of eater 'eyes and many slot (18-21) with a few 25's (our biggest) mixed in as well. Big Pike have moved out of the shallow weed bays and have been following the schools of walleye. I have reeled in 2 eater sized eyes this week where a BIG PIKE has came in and hammered the walleye a few feet from the boat. Quite a sight to see, to say the least.

Have been fishing out of the Lost Lake area since Saturday. Fishing has been generally good but weather has been sunny and hot with light winds from the south. Most of our fish are coming from the 25 to 30 foot depth. Most productive presentation has been dragging bare hooks with a crawler or leech. We don't use minnows.

Made a trip to the Taylor Island area on Tuesday. Fishing was good but you had to search for them and sit right on top of them. If the fish and baitfish are there you will catch them. They are not real aggressive however and don't want anything with any flash. Fished Canoe yesterday and found one spot in 6 FOW where jigs worked well but otherwise there were no boats up there which was a bad sign.

So far our boat of 3 guys has 500+ fish with 30% in or over the slot. Biggest 27" with five 26+.
