20lbSloughShark
I was fishing on mud lake today with suckers. It was a slow day of small bass, until my last sucker. My quick strike got tangled up, so I just used a single hook. The sucker got hammered, and the bobber made a wake and then disappeared. By the time I grabbed the pole it came back up. 5 minutes later I reeled in an alive 1/2 of a sucker. I was absolutely amazed (I cant think of a word to describe my feeling). It was cut an inch from my single hook, if I had my regular rig, I could have had it! I brought it home, and we have a joke now about bull sharks in mud lake. It kind of scares me though since I don't know for SURE it was a really big northern. I have reeled in my fair share of dropped or badly hooked suckers. The worst I have saw was guts hanging out. It was a nice clean cut through the whole thing. I'll get pictures up later. Anyone else have this happen?
reinhard1
it may have been a big snapping turtle? only guessing because of the clean cut. good luck.
