Jim Almquist
Had a little free time so I thought I would put a decent edge on the fillet knifes. I picked the stones up at a garage sale for $35.00. The system that holds my knife is the Razors Edge system. Very fast and easy with the larger stones.
Leaky
Nice. Razors Edge is owned and operated by Ragnars father (the Jurnatich family) up in Ely.
Jim Almquist
The Razor Edge system was a gift from a friend. Actually the knife in the photo was a Christmas gift as well. That is cool that is Ragnars family!

Then scroll down to guides. It really works well at getting the correct angle and will put on a good edge. You will not be able to shave with it but it will fillet fish just fine. Then all you need to do is tune up the edge with a set of crock sticks. I use the small plastic ones and have then hanging on the sheaths of most of my knives. reinhard1
thanks for the information guy's. i think i'm doing a good job now with the stones but i may do a better job with this tool. i also use a rough steel at times and finish off with a smooth steel for touching up the blade but use the stone for a good sharpening. good luck. Jim Almquist
I can't keep a knife at the right angle for nothing that is why I need a little assistance
reinhard1
a sharp knife is a safe knife as they say, and you might as well use whatever it takes. i think that tool will help me as well. my grandfather used one of my knives years ago when he visited us from Germany.after taking a couple of cuts, he asked me if i had a sharp one. i thought that was sharp until he showed me the use of a stone. but i dont always get consistant results so i think this will help. good luck. lakeshoremunster
a nice easy system that I have been playing around with for a short while is the convex edge meathod, it seems to be working out pretty good for me so far, next system for me will be the paper wheel
Jim Almquist
I have the paper wheel system but have not given it enough time to master it. I was able to sharpen my buddies serrated pocket knife blade and put one heck of a good edge on it. Hopefully this summer I will have enough time to master flat blades. dewey1
The Lansky system is the same principal. I have the diamond stones for mine. For some reason I have a hard time sharpening Rapalas unless I use a diamond stone.
