Kidd
Just picked up a buy-one get-one pack of strawberries from Cub and prepared them the following way and they were great. An old family recipe:- Slice the strawberries into 1/8 – 1/4 ince slices- Put into large bowl and add about 1/4 cup sugar- Mix and let stand for about 20 minutes- Stir in another 1/4 cup sugar and let stand again for about 20 min- Now smash the strawberries with a fork or spoon to release juice- Let stand until its time for desert- Spoon strawberries over shortcake, pour a little extra juice and top with whip cream- Dig in.It just doesn't get any easier than that. Walleyehooker
We have had this quite a bit lately. I do the same thing but maybe a little less sugar. Costco has some really nice strawberries in a big package.
