Minnkota trolling motor

My bow mount powerdrive Minnkota ('95) will not turn left. Before buying a new pedal, I tried a friends pedal and it doesn't work either. Any ideas? Thanks.

Clean all of your connections. Check the pins where you plug different pedals into the motor. You might have corrosion there.

Does it have autopilot? When the autopilot units go out they have a mind of their own turning whenever they want not when you want. Spinning in circles...

+1 on cleaning the connections. That's what fixed mine when mine would only turn one direction.

I have a mid-90's Minnkota with the electric steering and it wouldn't turn either direction. I wasn't even able to turn it by hand, so I took the steering gear box apart and found that the small electric motor inside was "stuck". I was able to loosen it up just by turning the motor gear by hand.

It doesn't sound like you are having the same problem, but you might test it by putting the motor into the down position and seeing if you can turn it by hand.

It is probably a broken wire in the coiled power cord.

I have had that happen a number of times.
