HOF#13
You and fishinchicks take my comments and ASSUME that I feel that way only because she is not male? Utterly rediculous and pathetic. It has NOTHING to do with the fact that she's a she. I could care less what sex she is.She is running a full-time Nationwide schedule this season, which is great. In my opinion, that is where she needs to be right now. She only ran 10-15 Nationwide series races last year??? How well did that prepare her for running in the cup series. Ask yourself...why is she getting the driving opportunities and all the media attention she is getting. It's not because she has proven herself to be a great driver at the Indy level or the stock car level. Don't you think the fact that she is a she, has been extremely BENEFICIAL to her racing career? gregg52
well she is a she no doubt ...loland as someone said if you got it flaunt it good for her....shes got big time guys and big time money behind her so let her go!!next race Dalington..hope they have like 4-5 back up cars there....lolshe will wreck there and i'm betting it will be her fault there i'm not slamming her..i just agree she should do a year in the nationwide cars maybe 2 again look at hornish he's back where he belongs and he crashed sat and from what i could tell it was his fault... so i think she's got aways to go...wonder if NASCAR told tony and tommy b they'd grease their pockets alittle...lol
fishinchicks
I wasn't calling any certain one out, HOF. It was a general statement based on the whole conversation in this thread. I just don't remember any of you bashing Trevor Bayne last year like you are Danica. He was in the exact same position as she is, running in Nationwide full time and a limited Cup schedule. She's got a lot more seat time in a lot bigger races than Bayne has. The transition between open wheel and Cup isn't easy for anyone. There are few who have been really successful in the switch. toughguy
If Danica goes winless in her next 130 cup races then maybe we can talk. An 88 fan talking about undeserved opportunities.

Crazy??? Know what you are talking about. Undeserved? How? Because of who his dad was. Get real. Your proving my point. Dale Jr. certainly did not just jump into the Nationwide circuit and most certainly not into the Cup circuit. 1996 - Jr. ran 1 Nationwide race while racing a lower level stock car circuit in NC. 1997 - Ran 8 Nationwide races while running the lower level stock car circuit in NC. (1 top 10) 1998 - Ran the entire Nationwide Circuit: 7 wins and was Nationwide Series Champion. Ran 1 cup exhibition race in Japan. 1999 - Ran the entire Nationwide Circuit: 6 wins and was Nationwide Series Champion. Ran 4 IROC races and 5 Cup races. 2000 - Started running the full-time Cup circuit Career: 2 Nationwide Series Champtionships, 18 Cup wins, 94 top 5's, and 150 top 10's. Sure, they are driver's with better career stats than Jr, but just like I am recommending for Danica, Jr. had to put the time in the Nationwide Series before moving to cup. I think the 2 championships at that level clearly indicated that he was ready and deserved to be in cup. It was not just "handed to him". She's got a lot more seat time in a lot bigger races than Bayne has. The transition between open wheel and Cup isn't easy for anyone. There are few who have been really successful in the switch. The difference between the two drivers you are comparing for me is that after both started out in go-carts, Danica spent all of her time until 2010 in the the Indy type race car. None in a stock car. She ran 13 Nationwide races in 2010 and 12 in 2011. Very, very little stock car experience for getting even 10 cup races this year. After go-carts for Trevor he spent all his years in lower level stock car circuits working his way up through the ranks. By the time Trevor hit the Nationwide circuit he had 4 full seasons of stock car experience.Just because I don't think she should be in the cup series yet, does not mean I'm not pulling for her. I agree she is great for the sport right now, and hope she develops into a race winning driver. How can more quality competition ever be a bad thing? toughguy
If his name was Dale Jones we never would have heard of him. Don't get me wrong at this point he deserves to be have a cup car but he took full advantage of all the opportunities given to him to get him there. So what's wrong with Danica doing the same? 1/2 of NASCAR (probably more) are drivers that weren't fully self made.Maybe my 130 winless streak comment was a cheap shot. She hasn't exactly been covered in champagne and confetti her whole career either.
HOF#13
No hard feelings... Every driver catches a break at some time to help get them where they are. Sure, Having Dale Sr. as his father made it easier for Jr. no doubt. But, remember, Dale Sr. was an old school tough SOB who believed in earning your way. Obviously Jr. had more ooportunities open to him because of his dad, but Sr. made Jr. start at the bottom and work his way up. If Jr. wanted it, Sr. would help open doors, but he made Jr. earn it every step of the way. He tough loved Jr. If his name were Dale Jones he would get ALOT more credit for what he has done in the Nationwide Series and the Cup series. But, because his name is Dale Earnhardt, Jr. he gets unfairly compared to his father. Heck, I don't blame Danica for taking advantage of the opportunities. I would do the same dang thing. I'm just stating that I think she should run a few more races in Nationwide before getting into cup. Obviously her sponsor and Tony Stewart feel otherwise. gregg52
dale jones or not you really cant we would have never heard of him you could say that about most of the field every one came for some where..t bayne....j gordon..only time tells how good some one is he just happen to have a very good driver for his father guy with a lot less wins than him have been in nascar a lot longer he has won 18 or so races about the same as the winner last night in about the same timewho knows if he was just another guy and the media would leave him alone for 2 minutes he might have 30 you could see last night during the fire he was having fun with the other driver then yocum had to stick the mic in his face you could see he was trying to walk away from him..somebody said last night hes probably glad danicas racin cuz they follow her every where even to the pottie as she is dis robing...lol.. i'm no 88 fan now just stating some fact i think make a diffence
