TomWehler
Today at 4 AM we lost our 10 year old Golden Retriver Bailey. She had been sick a short time and just went to sleep at our side. She was oldest of the three Mallard Island Mauraders as we called them.My best good Musky fish'en partner on the Big V., the cities and all over Canada. Some of you got to meet her over the years or saw her on the docks a number of times if you stopped by for a chat or just drove by.She to this last weekend would still ONLY let Guideman or Ace, Mr. Terry Sojberg pull up and dock without a fuss or even as much as a bark to let me know he was there. She was a famous Musky hound at that.In Photos with me and fish we caught together in Muskie Inc. Mag, The Front Page of the Tower News, Red Lake News and on our Web page!If you ever have seen me on the water without a client, you could bet Bailey was in the rig with me.She had the nose for Musky spots to.Would get to pounding her feet and sometime groning If I stayed to long in one area or was not where she thought we should be on a shore line, reef or weedbed.Way cool.Spent more time fish'en Muskie and Pike with Bailey than anyone, Family, friend, client.Enjoyed it all.She also had a way with Lures, shaking her head if I was useing something to long without a follow or FISH ON!She could and would watch for hours as I worked lures. All the other hounds would be fast asleep until the action started. Not baliley. She was in on every cast, from first to last.Would Look up at me when things got slow as if to say, well, get on with it already or change to the BIG bucktail I like that you know works!Loved watching Topwaters too.Sure won't be the same without her around in the boat or on the island or in my truck. She alwaya kept Homer J and Barney in-line and was top dog on the Island.Loved people, could eat anything, anytime.Tuesday and late Last night were the first times I had NOT seen her take a treat from Bonnie or myself. She was my best good friend and Musky pal.She will be missed. Bailey the Musky dog Rocked!See ya when I see ya Bails. T. www.muskytomsguideservice.com

Walleye #1
I am really sorry to hear this Tom. She looked like a great job in all of the pictures. I have been there with my old black lab. I guess that is why they always call them "man's best friend". My sympathies.Walleye #

Steve Foss
Hey Tom:Been there. Know how you feel. I think dogs were made to live shorter lives than ours to show us that time moves quickly, and we should cherish the moments we have with dogs, children and loved ones. Obviously, you've enjoyed your time wth the Musky Dog. And goldens are a fantastic breed. I read once as a child in a dog book this quote, and it's stuck with me a very long time: "Some people don't die soon enough. Most dogs die too soon."------------------"Worry less, fish more."Steve Foss[email protected]
