Frabill Rod Safe???

Thinking about getting one for next year...have too many Thorne Bros rods now.

Can you really get 8 28" combos in them?

Do you need to fold in the reel handles to get the lid to close?

Any cons?

Any pros?

I have the Frabill rod safe for my custom rods. Its light and compact. Im not sure about being able to fit 8 rods/reels though. I currently have about 4 fitting in nicely and dont think I will use 8 rods/reels lol.

You do have to loosen the reel handle for everything to fit nicely without deforming the foam. You may be able to get some gun cases that may be more rugged and durable with quality for similiar pricing or a little more.

I really like my Otter hard rod case for my pricey rods. I can get 6 in there with the handles down.

I had debated getting the Otter hard rod case also. But it was just way too big for me and I thought the finish quality of the outer molding was poor.

I have the otter box and I have 5 rods and reel combos in it without doing a thing. I just make sure no rodtips are going to be pinched by anything and close and go. It is a little big but if you want to protect hundreds of dollars worth of rods and reels I would highly recommend it.

I have have 7 Thorne Bros rods 2 34" 4 32" and a 30" in a Otter Rod Box. It is tight but they all fit in there fine

I really like the hard sided Ice Armour case I bought this year usually have 5-6 combo's in there

I actually was having the same problem, getting too many rods and they weren't fitting in my Ice Armour rod locker. Plus I hated having to mess with the reel. I endied up picking up the rod case from Ice Fishing Innovations. I can put 6 combos in there without messing with the reels and there is a bunch of storage on top of the tackle boxes you get. Only downside is it is the shear size, but fits behind the seats in my portable, so it works for me. I would recommended it for sure.

IMO that rod case from Ice Fishing Innovations is awesome. A bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it if you want the ultimate storage solution. Something in the future that I want to upgrade too.

I own the Frabill rod case and have 8 rods, a flask, and a small jig box that fit in there. You definitely have to fold down the handles which really isn't that big of a deal. I like it more and more every time I use it.

You can definetly fit everything you need it in. The whole thing under the tackle box that is under the rods is wide open. I have a couple spools of line, two little tackle boxes, headlight and GPS under there and have room for more.
