knoppers
ruger came out with the sr1911, and it is selling so well, I could not find one. cabelas has a 4 month waiting list, and all other venders said the few they had, they sold. I got lucky, stopped in gander mountain in st cloud, they just got 5 in, and had only 1 left, now its mine! a little high priced there, but I have to expect that. I hope this is worth the wait to get this .45, nicest gun I have seen.

carpshooterdeluxe
I did some research on it, sounds like a great gun for the $! Any other input on any other 1911s that I should check out? S&W, Dan Wesson, Kimber, Nighthawk, Sig, etc. Lots of great 1911's out there if you have the $$$.

SmilinBob
Fish, look at the Springfields too, I know the more custom models run the price up pretty quickly though, another option is buying parts as you go and making something custom for yourself, the cost typically is about the same as long as you're not going full top end competition or show piece. Now my 2 cents on the Ruger after seeing a couple. It is a very nice gun, and the price is clearly reasonable, however the 1911 has been around for 101 years now and for Ruger to finally introduce one and feel it is groundbreaking is quite a stretch. Would I discourage anyone from buying one, no way, it's a fine gun, but the advice I have given over and over here still stands true, shop around and find what you like. Tator2k
Up until the recent past couple years, I was told if you wanted a 1911 your choices should only be: Colt, Kimber or SA.Now everyone is making them, and typically adding all the bells and whistles you'd pay extra for, and upgrading to a custom gun.
