extended gooseflags

Over the past goose seasons we have had flags with handles that would extend 10 or more feet. Well we broke the the last one we had. These had similar handles to the telescoping handles on many decoy retrivers you see today. I believe we got these from knutson decoys at the game fair a few years ago and now the only ones we can find are the ones from flagman and they just don't seem to hold up well for us. Just wondering if anyone has any leads or ideas for a decent replaacement. Thx for any replies.

Not sure off the top of my head. Cabela's is the only place I've found them with any regularity. But they're cheep fiberglass, and all it takes is one squarely planted foot to crack them (this comes from personal experience). Can't seem to make one last through a whole season. Now I just stick to the short flag handles. Seems to work the same.

Yeah i hear ya, the short ones do help. Where i hunt though the extended flags help so much on traffic geese that it's nice to have when you got it.

Sillosocks makes an extendable flagging pole for their fliers. It can be modified to work with flags really easy as well.

Justa thought I had but I think you could use one of those telescoping fiberglass cane poles for fishing to use a flag pole. They make several different lengths.

I have one the goes to twenty fooot and its a pnnfish pole and the end 4 foot is really light but you could cut it to the size you need.I also have a twelve footer that called the black widow for crappie fishing that would work also.

I'm thinking of using it for my baby robo mallard hang it off the end like ten foot above the decoys and then have one closer to the spread.

That's basically what those Cabela's poles are, and why they don't last very long. I've even had one snap in a relatively mild wind before. If you could buy them in bulk for cheap, they might be worthwhile.

Get some real cane poles that you put together in sections, and they're cheap! That's what I use now, and you don't have to camo paint them!

Buy a bunch just in case you break'em!

We use small pvc pipe in longer lenghts. We paint the pvc pipe black and put 2 screws in to hold the flag plenty of whip and u get great height and visualizeation and you can drop them with ease once the geese commit. We use trailers so they fit right in so breaking them down is not a issue. Cheap alternative route.

Definitely do not buy one of Randy Bartz extended poles. I bought one and I really like it both days I got to use it before it broke....while flagging.
