Marcum LX-5/Vexilar question

Looking at buying a Marcum LX-5 and selling the Vexilar FL-20. If I were to mount a vexilar float and stop on the Marcum transducer cord would it all fit in the Marcum case still attached. Not trying to start the vex/marcum debate but have put off buying a Marcum for years and it has me curious. Want to try it out and today's sale prices are making it look like the time to try them out.

I never used a float when I did own Vex's, prefer my ducer on the edge of the hole out of the way and for it to stay there, no a float will no fit inside the case but there is a pocket on the outside to store it in if you choose to go that rout....

Not really sure why you would want to??? The MarCum comes with a stop and an arm...better design IMO.

it will be tight but you can make one fit. Or as stated run without it or with it in the side pocket when not in use

When I had my Marcum LX3-tc I used a float with it. I was able to fit it inside the case. Like stated earlier it was a little snug, but no issues.

I have had vex and Marcum. I would never go back to the float. I like my ducer on the side of the hole also.

What I do is set the stop so the ducer is just below the bottom of the ice. That way the cord can be snug against the side of the hole and leave the hole open for fishing.

I do use the vex float on my lx-5. The float does fit, but as stated, it is tight.Take the Marcum arm off to make more room. Most times I just keep my float free on the outside of the case.

The system works great imo.
