pikestabber
IMO, milder wood is best for delicate foods...alder or apple are a good choice.
hockeybc69
I use whatever I have available.

ishy
Thanks folks. I think Eyeguys2 is the one I was remembering. Hockeybc69 sounds like the ticket. Maybe just make two dozen (one batch of each) and let the family/friends fight over them. Yep, that's my plan. Thanks, this site makes life a little bit easier. seriously. Pics to follow... ishy
Made a dozen Saturday with the pork butt. put them on before the pork and pulled them off in about 45 min. Could have stayed on a little longer. But... They were fantastic. Should have made two dozen like my originale plan. They were gone before I could take a pic. Pork butt was smoked for just over 5 hours at 225. Turned out geat also. Thanks again to all for the great information..
hockeybc69
Hey ishy,Interesting. I grew up in Champlin and have been going to Battle Lake since the day I was born.
ishy
Hockeybc69.........Small world ey? You didn't happen to live on 115 1/2 and Douglas did you. Battle Lake (silver) is wher my grandparents lived. I was there every summer since i was a kid..We bought property on a lake just west of there. we have a camper and power. Some day a cabin. We pretty much go up every weekend in the summer (minus sports issues with the kids. Darn kids). also a few times in the winter. We stay at the Lodge on Ottertail. Great people. Parents of the owners have place near us. Didn't realize that till about three years ago
hockeybc69
112th and Vera Cruz... So just east and south of you not far at all. Lived there from 1968 to 1989. My grandpa managed the grain elevator in Battle Lake. They lived in town not far from Grannys Pantry, the drug store, etc. Just west of those a couple blocks. (Right across the street from the funeral home). Been going up there for 43 years. Parents live near East Battle Lake on acreage and have a cabin on the north end of East Battle Lake still. email me if you want. always fun running into people that frequent the area up there. I have met several people from here and other forums that call that area home or pseudo-home. [email protected]

hockeybc69
Isnt it standard policy to change subjects in the middle of a thread on internet forums???
ishy
Sorry... It just happens. Back to eggs.... Anyone..?? I also think this is a place to meet people you never would. Or reminesce (sp?). It's what this forum is all about. I apoligize if it got to mushy. Back to fricken eggs people. Will be doing another batch this weekend, I promise I will send pics. They were that good, for those of you who have been thinking maybe.. do it , you'll eat them till you puke. And then ask... Is there anymore? I will never make "deviled eggs" the traditional way again. NEVER!!! They are that much better!
Leaky
I'll be doing a virgin batch this weekend. Love deviled eggs and can't wait to try this. I wonder if they would be OK sitting covered in the fridge for 24 hours once I put them together.
eyeguy 54
Thet will be fine. I make them up the day before a cilb fishing event. The guys are are still alive. :>) Once smoked save a few to cut up and throw on a salad also. I love em with some Dorthys, cajon powder, sunflowers seeds, peppers and lettuce. If you save a few in the fridge let them get close to room temp before you put in a storage bag to keep the moisture down. Sheesh, now i gotta smoke some. lol
hockeybc69
Taste will be fine. you might end up with a little darkened look from the mix drying a little, but nothing bad.Go for it!
