Feb 18th fishing trip?

I have a good friend and his family coming up to MN from TX to ice fish the weekend of Feb 18th. Where would you guys take a novice ice fishing family to catch fish? I am thinking staying on shore and renting a perm during the days. Portables would be too much work for them and I don't have enough to accomodate 4 adults and 4 kids. Suggestions?

LOW, URL, Leech, Winnie? Main purpose is to catch fish during the day, not necessarily looking for trophies, but numbers, so the kids (9 - 13) stay interested and have fun.

Lake Of The Woods is the place you discribed, there are many places to go that are closer, but the action on LOTW, is awesome.

+1 on lake of the woods. Great fishing during the day with plenty of night life and good food and accomodations to be had.

LOW is the place. Check out the resorts. Great accommodations, service, and meal plans. You will get numbers with a good chance at a trophy.

I would say LOTW to. But the winnie perch bite can be ridiculous for numbers of fish if you find them and they are feeding. LOTW is an awesome fishery though.

Didn't realize eelpout festival was that weekend. that is something I have wanted to do for several years. Leaning towards LOW. Thanks for all the comments.
