Shawn Kellett
I was thinking of making one for my Father-in-Law and have some good ideas. Anyone give it a try?
Laska
i was thinking about it but Id want it to swim like a decoy... Id be using the do it urself plastic bait formula with a jig I make myself.
Archerysniper
I made some last year as a prototype they worked good but I need to do some fine tuning,I used the firetiger and natural shad varieties you can get in the bass fishing section at mills fleet farm
Gordie
I would think a big shad or golden shinner would work great and some type of rattle may help attract the pike
Huey
I tried using a Suzy Sucker, a soft plastic muskie lure, as a decoy last year. It didn't work well. It wasn't balanced correctly to hang level and it did not swim well. It looks very realistic though. I'm surprised that more fake decoys are not painted like a sucker minnow. Laska
I'm starting on a creek chub tomorrow because it has a purple blue tint/flash to it, mainly making it so if I don't have a sucker I got the next best thing! Maybe I should do a thread from start to finish on it....... that would be fun.... Here's a sucker I did last year, worker for competition took 2nd

BOUNCED
I was thinking of making one for my Father-in-Law and have some good ideas. Anyone give it a try? The way my wood decoys get pounded I wouldn't even waste my time toying with soft plastic.
Shawn Kellett
True, but there's a lot of things you can do with plastics you can't do with wood. Tails, shapes, color, etc. Will it make a difference? Probably not. Is it fun to try new things and create "hope"? Absolutely!
Archerysniper
The thing that keeps me playing with them is they are scented,I have noticed a difference using scented plastics with Walleyes and panfish and hope it will work with spearing too
