Yeah there cross country ski's they pull across gravel even pretty easy not that I wanted to put my garage floor is old skool gravel. They support the shack well and its really stable unlike my ice conditions are going to be for the next week I checked the forcast with hi's in the mid 40's so I decided against puttin the shack out oh well in time I hope to have it out, might travel over to sakatah sometime soon just so I can spear. Thx guy for the compliments its definetly the nicest shack I've ever owned final cost was around $230.

Laska one tip you may want to paint the bottom half a light color as the black will absorb heat and the metal frame will melt the ice faster even if you block it up a couple of inches the black will absob the heat and still melt the ice around the house. thats why I went white with mine . I know that the heat that will absorb will help keep you warm inside but the melting around the house can be the down fall of it. 2c

House looks great hope it you get to breat it in with a nice pike

I have been playing with 2 green houses on the lake this winter and when I build mine I'm going white. I can walk up on a day in the high 20s and put my hand on them and they are really warm. Normally it wouldn't be a problem except this year sucks for making ice. Another tip is if you use hollow tubing you can run your torch in one end and it will melt it self out of the ice if it gets froze in.

wish I could it was the black paint, it was the whole lake, ice receeded 30ft from shore, then started on my house because of the hole...

Ill find my shack next year.... Thats all Ill say, lets just hope I keep a level head about it smile

I have since painted most of it white - it just ate the snow/banking away, I left the top part black.

It is real easy to transport as shown on the Large Otter sled. (their widest) even pulling by hand.

I have holes drilled in the wall to my left, right, and rear with corks to plug them for watching tip-ups.

I have large handles to help lift/tilt.

There is a dryer vent to my rear that I can plug with a rag.

There are no skids - I just put it on blocks.

The side it is laying on is one size thicker plywood than the rest.

I tried to keep it as simple and light as possible.

There is a piece of tin between the bottom of the stove and the hole to keep the light from the stove out of the hole.

    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
