Walleyes Over Rice

Recommended Posts

This summer my dad and I canned a big batch of salsa. It turned out great! But it was a bit watery. We like lots of tomatoe in it and the fresh ones this year were loaded with water. No biggie, we just strained the solids and canned that.

As a by-product I ended up with about 8 quarts of salsa-type liquid. It still had lots of onions, peppers, ect but was rather runny. I canned it and figured it would be good for a soup base starter...

Tonight I found a better use... I poached some fresh walleye filets in it and served it over rice!

All I did was warm the juice up to a med slow boil. I did add a small can of V8 as It was thicker than I remembered. cool

And I added a can of baby clams to the pot also.

When she was boiling slow I added a bunch of half filets and let it simmer about 10 min stirring a tad.

Had some rice already going, and chow time...
