fivebucks
Darn - I was getting set to plan a hunt over New Years weekend and I figured it would be open thru the whole holiday weekend including Monday Jan 2nd. It closes on Sunday the 1st so it is a good thing I double checked as I would have looked silly trying to explain my way out of hunting on Jan 2nd. blindluck
This is what game preserves are for man. I think they run well into March here in Iowa. I figure I save a few bucks in gas and hotel bills by going to the preserve rather than taking the trip up to SD. And with all birds I've missed this year the population numbers should be back up next year.
fivebucks
It's OK - I gotta start ice fishing too so I guess Jan 2 can be an ice fishing day. I just can't do a game farm - not that there's anything wrong with them. I would just rather "Hunt" all day for the chance at 1 wild bird than shoot a few someone put out there for me. With South Dakota having so few birds this year, most of the birds raised in Minnesota were shipped out there to be released as "wild" birds. stretch
Game farms aren't that bad. I go to them once and awhile and shoot scratch birds and it still feels like i am hunting wild birds. I mostly go to the game farms to work my dogs, especially my gsp pup. I just need to get her on as many birds as possible.
