My Nilsmaster auger bolt and nut lost!

I converted to hand auger mode for a while, now I can't find the bolt and nut to reattach the power head. can someone give me the size I need. can I get the right size at a hardware store? thanks

That's kinda funny...I just bought a longer bolt for mine because the nyloc nut didn't seem to catch any of the bolt. Assuming that I would soon loose the bolt, I bought a longer one. I am pretty sure that it was a 12MM x 1.75 pitch.

No matter the brand of auger, take black electrical tape and wrap around the nut and bolt.... Have lost or nearly lost nuts on 2 different augers one being my Nils, luckily found it later in the day in the snow....

I don't even bother with the bolt any more. I bought a D-clip from Fleet F@rm and use that instead. Holds great and will never come out, but can be removed easily if I need to break down the auger.

With the nils the bolt head goes against the top of flat on the auger and holds it firm to the adapter. The fast clip won,t keep it tight.

Yeah I don't know how Nils are designed, but it works great on my Strikemaster.

Yeah I wouldn't use the fast clip on the nils, way too wobbly.

Previous owner used clip on the Jiffy that I bought. Loose fit, "buggered" up the holes and now I can't get my auger off. Have to figure out how to get it off. My suggestion is to avoid.

I bet if you just brought the whole auger and head in to an Ace Hardware they would let you test all their bolts to get the right size. I know the one down the street from my house would do it, they are super helpful with that sort of thing.

Thanks for the tip on the electrical tape over the bolt, I get nervous every time out and always check it, and have at times found it loose.

I think it is a M10x1-1/2 long with a nylock jam nut.

Good luck MT. Would be a bummer to not be able to use that sweet auger. You will get it i'm sure.
