Who here has and fishes with an Humminbird Ice-55?

What do/don't you like about it?

Why did you pick it?

if it fell down the hole tomorrow, or was smashed by a bus or something, would you buy another one?

I'm thinking of picking one up, but am looking for the skinny on 'em.

p.s. I dont want to hear about the other brands or models.

I have one, I don't use it too often, but like it enough to not sell it.

I like the fact it runs at a frequency other than 200khz. I like the large display and 5 color option. I like the carrying case. I like the digital depth display.

It was the only flasher not to run at 200khz and I got it dirt cheap.

Not likely, I'd wait for Hbirds offerings next season to see if they have anything new. Again, I don't use it that often, it's a backup in case I get yelled at for using something else and causing interference in something else, or just a standby for me or a buddy. It's a good unit to run on your second line in the same shack with something else on your primary line.

i have an ice35 and i like that. i like it more than my buddie's vex and marc. was thinking about upgrading to a 55 but can't really justify spending the money when i already have the basic for what i use it for.

I have nothing bad to say about my HB 55. Digital depth display, huge screen, adjustable zoom at any depth, great battery life, love the color options. I have fished with every different kind of flasher in my clam guide (pretty small) portable right next to me and never had any issues with interference, including another HB 55. Would I buy another?? Without question. A tip for you, check out some online video of how they work if you haven't already. There are some good ones that really explain the unit and it's functions.

FYI-If you do decide to purchase the Ice55, do not use the support cable for hanging the transducer in the hole.

It was added due to patent issues I believe and u do not need it as it works fine without it.

You can use it but you will need to get it hooked up perfect and always check it. It can hang at an angle and give you false depth reading.

Really impressed with my Ice-45. I only need the zoom when fishing deeper than 20 FOW. Even fishing small panfish baits in 20' you can still see the bait rather well. Target seperation isn't the greatest, but all the other features more than make up for it. It's also nice being the only guy in a sea of vexilar users to be able to use my flasher at the "Extravaganza".

I love the color options, large readout, digital depth, auto depth option, power consumption dual beam transducer and good separation as well.

Only issues I've every had have been interference when I fish with several HB around. I've fishing the Gull Lake contest two years now without any interference issues which I have not been able to do with my other flashers.

It's my wife's favorite flasher so based on that alone I'd definitely be buying a new one. wink

I bought the 55 the first year it came out. It worked great til the next year right before Christmas, sent it in and they fixed it. It ran good til the next year about the same time, it broke again. Sent it in and they fixed it and it worked great til I got rid of it this year. Humminbird has really good customer service, and fast service. My new unit that I bought this year is another 55, I really like the features and the flat large face. I find I can see the colors better. Rick

I have one, I picked it because I'm colorblind and really was my only option. It works great, never had any issues at all but I am very glad to hear that the one guy on here that has had issues is satisfied with the outcome. Every company will have a bad product or two and it's all about how they handle it that keeps me coming back!

Mines have grown on me the past year. I dont care for its zoom or the surface clutter interference. Aside that its awesome for hole hopping with the digital depth scale. The only time I will put it away is if im sitting on a large of school of fish. Then the LX5 gets to lite up with them fine lines...

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
