It Snowed!!!!!

After all the hunting in brown grass, tree stands, and having to don blaze orange to go outside and play. Deer seasons are winding down and the December moon is comming soon to a predator stand near you.

Looks like they got a good amount to the south, I may have to take advantage of some properties we got permission for this fall down by the root. With the snow comes winter whites. That means guns too...

I will say that taping up an AR is a lot harder and more time consuming than the shot gun, but I have done the shotgun before so it was old hat. It took some trial and error on the rifle. Its a Mossberg 535 "tactical turkey" and an Oly K8 Targetmaster. They are both jones'en to go play in the snow.

Good luck month fellas. Lets get the whites out, get the guns taped up, and lets get after them.

No, I would call it more of a way to pass the time or over thinking the details. It was something I was shown when I first started out and have done since. Minor details I guess crazy

I should point out that if you use the white athletic tape used for hockey sticks or tapping up hands for boxing it leaves none of the residue that the other tapes do.

I just use the white stuff they sell at SportsMart or SportsAthority, whatever they are calling it this week, but thats because I am cheap and can get it there.

I know of people who use the vet tape or horse tape, but I have never tried it.

I have had issues in the past with the camo tapes sold at the big C or Walmart. It seems like the more expensive it is or the stuff that is made to do the same job is worse as far as residue and moisture go. The athletic tape is woven cloth. If you look close you can see through it. Any moisuture that does get in will get back out. With the solid plasticised or rubberised tapes you can trap that stuff underneath, but like I said I have had no issues. Do not use the white duck tape!!! I tried it once on a loaner shotgun. It took an entire can of remoil to get the glue off.

Both guns are synthetic stock so I am not woried about moisture there. The shotgun has a camo dip job on it already and short of some scratches from the razor knife I have yet to see any adverse effects of the tape. The AR is mostly aluminum and has been coated as well. I did not tape the barrel on the rifle because it is beed blasted stainless already.

keep them out of the case while they warm to room temp and dry out from being in the snow is all I have ever done.

I was just tossing a tip out there for folks. Its an alternative to Krylon and you can take if off when you are done.

When I am sitting in the moonlight I want everything to look like snow and shadow. Anything to break up the shape. But a white shotgun or rifle dont do me anygood the rest of the year. tape on, tape off. Like I said before, over thinking it...
