Lowrance H2O and lakemaster

mlvaj

Question

I've got a question regarding the H2O and Lakemaster chips. I still have an older lakemaster chip for my H2O but was thinking about upgrading the chip. I've checked online and don't see much information. I've checked the lakemaster HSOforum and it shows that it's only compatible with the humminbird brand of gps. Is it true? Also, I don't think they make any more H2O as I can't find them for sale anywhere as one of my friend is looking to get one and all he can find are handheld devices that are over his budget. What can you guys tell me about this situation? Do I need to upgrade my gps even though it's working great for me with no problem whatsoever and will my chip work even though it's a few years old(Maybe 4 or 5 yrs old)? I don't want to spend the money if I don't have to.

They quit making the H20 two, maybe three years ago. Not sure if Lakemaster makes an upgraded chip that will work in there or not. Hopefully someone who knows will chime in, as I'm in the same boat as you.

From what I have read on this site. Humminbird bought Lakemaster. They have stopped selling for other devices (which you saw on their HSOforum).

As for your situation, as long as you are happy with what you have and it works use it. If you wanted a newer Lakemaster chip your only option is to buy the chip used but I would make absolutely sure it was the right chip for your unit.

I'm fairly happy with what I've got because I only use this for ice fishing and occasional open water. I guess it won't bother me as much since water level is pretty much the same if not only a few feet difference. Man, I must not be paying attention that H2O is no longer available. For the price, I thought it was very good for what it does. Sux that everything now is way overpriced and people like us can't afford it plus to go with a $100 chip, I might need to sell an arm and a leg. Oh well, if it's not broken, and it's still in very good shape, I'll stick with what I have.

NO NO NO. Can't you READ? They stopped selling DIRECT, stores are STILL SELLING. This has been discussed in a similar thread just a few days ago.

Slow down Del smile That post wasn't up when I replied to this and I was basing my response off of what I had read prior to this post, not the other post you made.

I am curious though as to why they would still make and sell it through retailers and not sell it online? Are they just selling off remaining stock or are they still updating for other units?

Also I believe he has a GPS unit that is no longer being made. Are they still going to update the maps and software for his unit?

The other thread was posted on 11/11 and replied to by several people on 11/12. It would still have been on the first screen when this thread was started.

As for not updating, I am a lowrance customer. I know all about abandoned products, lack of support, and no updates.
