300 Zones - Dead Bucks Found

Recommended Posts

I tried to cut them a break in the past, because they've been hunting there for years, and maybe those stands were made before the rules were in effect, but when I saw what they did to that buck, and the mess of garbage they leave under every stand, I'm not going to look the other way. Empty water bottles, empty jerky packages, gutting gloves, toilet paper, sweet rice packages, empty beer cans. It's disgusting.

We too found more than enough trash left behind on the State ground bordering the private we hunt. Gutting gloves left behind really irritates me because it's 100% intentional - they don't accidently fall out without being noticed.

Both my buddy and I picked up some trash while we were hunting but not all of it. My buddy had a blown opportunity when two deer were coming right at him while he was sitting next to a berm. He leaned back to get ready and crushed a plastic bottle he picked up. The deer heard it and turned away.

We didn't find any little bucks left behind and walked the cover pretty thoroughly. 5 gut piles though with the jewels left on couple of them.

For what it's worth, while bow hunting calm deer in that area I have never had a problem counting points on a buck. Plenty of time to do so. But during this gun hunt the deer are moving faster and in thicker cover and I was having a difficult time being sure of EXACTLY what headgear a buck had on it before he was gone. Of the three bucks I did see and had clear shots at, I only know what one of them had for sure.
