squeeb27
Went out this morning and had two firsts, first we get out there and realize the slough is froze over so we had to break ice with a canoe and paddles, pain in the @$$. Second my buddy and I who have been hunting for about 15 years each both got our first canvasbacks today. One dropped right in the decoys easy to get, the other we had to break ice halfway across the slough to get. Totally worth it today!!! Ufatz
Good for you guys!! Some of the best hunting I've had has been on a small pothole whre we had to break some ice out and put a dozen or fewer decoys in the open water. It will really sucker them in.Sounds like you guys had fun and I'm happy for ya.
Gordie
congrats on the first cans and I love breaking ice cause if the ducks are around and they see water it doesnt seem to matter they come right in.
motley man
Hunted years ago with a orange Coleman canoe and had to break ice across a bay. One of the most scary times I've had just waiting for the ice to slice the canoe.
