Who taught you to hunt?

Recommended Posts

picked up where my dad left off, starting hunting small sloughs and pass shooting at big refuges, jump shoot a lot of rivers/creeks too. dont do much of that anymore, usually out in a boat now and letting the birds come to me. dad had a mere 4 wood duck decoys. We ( bro and I) have a whole shead full. dads glad were still in it as he cant hunt anymore frown

I'm from 3rd and Earl on the ES, not too far from you. I always enjoy bringing a deer on top of a car back to the eastside. You get alot of strange looks!

P.S. I could be your dad I was a big womanizer back in my prime!

Yes, 3rd and Earl is not far! I actually went to grade school at Sacred Heart way back...

One of best memories is when my dad and three of his buddies shot a moose and drove it around Payne Avenue, stopped at every bar, and then brought it home last.

My Dad took me hunting and fishing since I was probably about 8. He taught me how to hunt grouse, ducks, and pheasants. And how to fish. He never deer hunted and I didn't start until I was a Sr. in High School. I learned a lot about hunting and fishing also by reading hunting Magazines, the Outdoor News and Shows like Babe Winkleman's Good Fishin, and Infisherman TV. But honestly without Dad Taking me since I was 9 none of the otherstuff would have mattered!

I won't say every hunter I've met, but it's pretty amazing what people can teach you. The hunters with the biggest impact on me have been my dad, my mom's dad, uncles and cousins, and some friends of mine and my family.

And they're still teaching me, as I'm teaching some of them from time to time.
