Digger Auger Carrier

Does anyone have any experience with the digger auger carrier? Just wondering if the uprights that hold the auger in place scratch the auger shaft up. Does the auger shaft sit on bare metal or are the uprights lined with rubber or another material to keep from scratching up the auger shaft?

I bought one last year and had the same concern as you but so far not an issue but I was thinking of using auto door trim edging or tool handle dip on the contact points. Mine didn't have any plastic inserts. Very nice auger holder I must say!

Yeah, they cradle used to be metal - but after hearing from folks about that not being a good idea, they switched to a plastic insert, for where the auger shaft sits.

Worked great on my ATV last winter - now will adapt one to the front of my new Arctic Cat Bearcat for this season..

Does anybody worry about the auger shaft getting bent? It seems like there should be some support on the power head of the auger, where most of the weight is. Thoughts? I am interested in adding one of these to my snowmobile but I can't help but worry about damaging the auger.

Also, Does that unit mount directly to the bumper of the snowmobile?

Tsande

They do make a tab that run from the main arm of the bracket that runs out and supports the flat part of the transmission of a StrikeMaster auger. When they sent me one, I had to drill and mount it myself. Keep the head from bouncing up and down..

As Jim mentioned, they will send you a bracket if you request it (no charge... not even for shipping).

Initially I was concerned about the lack of support for the auger head. After mounting it up I no longer had that concern. The auger just fits so snug and secure. The guys at Digger have been selling these for a few years now, they told me they haven't had any reported issues of auger damage.

The "L" bracket power head mount is not currently installed on mine.
