amateurfishing
I have 4 spark plugs in my motor, i take cover off and 2 are easily exposed and accessible in the middle, top one a little difficult but manageable, but my bottom spark plug is extremely difficult to get and let alone take out because of barely any extra room from the outside motor housing. Ive tried pliers, plumbers wrench, sockets wrench is too long, etc. The room is so small i barely have enuff to just to connect spark plug to wire. Is there a special very handy boat motor spark plug tool out there or available somewhere that is very handy for this very tight space in the motor housing? motor is 84 mercury 75 hp if that matters. thx
BartmanMN
Not sure on a special tool, however the only way to get at one of my plugs is to remove the bottom couling(sp?).When putting the plugs back in I use a piece of fuel hose to thread them in. If you have an aluminum block it is extremely easy to cross thread a plug resulting in an expensive repair. Fuel line tip was given to me by Boat mechanic. marine_man
Bartman hit the nail on the head.. if you can, get it broken loose with a wrench and use a piece of gas line to get it spun out. If not, you'll need to pull the lower cowl.marine_man
20lbSloughShark
I had the same kind of problem on my truck. I ended up making a tool, I cut a socket in half and welded it to a thin peice of steel. It works great.

boatfixer
No special tool needed. Use a 13/16 box end or open end wrench.
delmuts
Another one of those times where one would just LOVE to let the engineer that designed it, do the maintenance on it!
