PierBridge
I'll expect some spring Snow Goose footage out of ya!!!!! After just a few minutes of play I'm pretty impressed with the quality of the equipment. I just thought they were way over priced for what you were getting but it's not as bad as I thought and the mounting capabilities are insane. Still pretty darn spendy to begin with plus I'll have to add the LCD screen along the chest mount for sure. So there's a $100 more for starters. Now I have to go win some win free accessories on the Go-Pro HSOforum "Thanks LMIT"
LMITOUT
Ha ha! The part that made me hesitate was dropping the coin for a class 10 32GB SD card. Not cheap. There were some good deals on them on Black Friday but never ventured into the chaos to get a second one. I'm sure there are deals online but I was heading out for my hunting trip the next day after buying the GoPro and didn't have time to shop for a deal on a card. One thing I'd like to get yet is an adapter for a tripod.
Bryce
Wifey don't mess around when it comes to gift time. Should have everything other than a field staff to show me how to use it. 32 gb card, battery backpack, lcd backpack, chestie, and bag to store everything.Haven't looked at it at all but think biggest challenge is going to be transfer of data from camera to tab and then editing on said tab. Was surprised to get solid 3g connection a my nodak fields this fall so should be able to upload.
LMITOUT
How do you plan on uploading to the tab? Do you have the SD card reader for the Tab? If you figure out a way they better be short movies! My Tab has as much memory as the SD card I got for the GoPro...32!
MuleShack
So the quality of the card will affect video quality or just the time it takes to transfer it to laptop? I only have the 8 gig card in mine and it only lasts about an hour, so i have to bring the laptop with. I never thought to get another card...duh! What is a good price for the 32 gig? As far as the chest mount, I have not used mine yet because if your hunting your arms are always in front of your body. The head mount has been my go to and has worked great. I thought about mounting to gun barrel, but gun is always moving and pointing at non interesting things most of the time.
LMITOUT
They recommend at least a Class 4 card and that's what I'll probably look for when I get another one. It is the transfer rate/speed that the card is capable of. The camera is pumping out data to the card and it has to be able to handle what it's being fed, hence the need for a higher transfer rate. Class 4 = 4MBps, Class 6 = 6MBps, and so on. If I would have had some time I would have looked for a "slower" card than the Class 10 but time was a premium when I bought the camera so I just took what I could get.I used the head mount when hunting as well and thought it worked well. My first idea was to try to rig up some sort of gun mount but then decided, like you, that a majority of the time it would be video of sky or ground and just went with the head mount. LMITOUT
Let me know what you come up with because that is a big problem not being able to use my Gorrilla tri-pod.GoPro makes one. $8.That mount seems to be the way to go if you want to create other types of mounting options by using a standard 1/4-20 screw (the one on tripods)...Slap a 1/4-20 screw on just about anything and then mount the GoPro using the tripod mount. PierBridge
Just saw that! Quote:What is a good price for the 32 gig? I nabbed a Extreme Speed 16GB Class 10 Secure Digital High Capacity Card for like 18.99 at Microcenter here in the Metro a few weeks back. Haven't checked the 32's recently. I'm guessing 40 to 60-ish?
PierBridge
I tell you what really helped the learning curve was hooking the GoPro up to my TV at home last night and playing around with it. It's nearly impossible for me to see the GoPro built in LCD. I just used a minny to composite cable to do this which they could/should have supplied with it. PierBridge
Houston, we have a problem. You can upload to the net through your tab, live if you want with the WiFi backback from the looks of it. Editing may be a challenge though but it appears that can be done with the right app~
LMITOUT
Saw a glimpse of the wifi bacpac on a video from CES the other day where they interviewed the GoPro folks. Didn't say when it would be available, though. Just got back from BB and picked up the Tripod Mount. Also grabbed the handlebar mount as well. Should work great on the Otter poles if I ever get on the lake.
Jim Almquist
LMITOUT There HSOforum said the WiFi will be out in February. I should have my Hero2 in my hands on Friday. I thought about the handle bar mount as well but thought I better take a look at what comes in the Outdoor kit before I go to nuts. I have the tripod adapter on the way as well as the Wasabi battery charger and 2 spare batteries that also includes a car charger.I also have the suction cup coming. Wished I would have had it last weekend when 2 wolves ran in front of the car. Had to slam on the brakes so it would have been some cool closeup footage. LMITOUT
The outdoor kit gives you a couple extra little adapters for attaching to the various mounts, some flat and curved surface adhesive-backed mounts, and a few hand tighteners for the adapters or other accessories. You don't get much else for mounting options except the helmet and head mount. I use a cell phone charger when I'm out and about. They seem to always be in a vehicle somewhere since everything is USB now and I took out about three chargers of various types the last time I cleaned the truck. One time my aunt was visiting my folks when I was there and her cell was dead. It was some LG phone and I told her I'd be right back. Checked the truck and sure enough a charger for a LG cell! Ha! So sad... I watched a DYI video on YouTube last night where a guy had some good ideas for mounting the camera and a USB back-up power source. He also advised to super glue the acorn nuts into the adapters so they don't get lost. Tonight I had one pop out so I can see how that tip might end up being useful if you're outside when it happens. Bye bye nut. I'm convinced all of the little adapter pieces are just a tinker toy kit for adults. I just rigged up the handlebar mount or "Ride Pro" kit as they call it to the dog kennel. Going to see what she does all day.

MuleShack
I just grabbed a Sandisk 32gig card from Newegg for $35...no tax or shipping.it is a class 4 but says it has 15mbps read and write.
LMITOUT
That should work well. I noticed that the class 4=4MBps, class 6=6MBps rule doesn't seem to hold true for all cards.
LMITOUT
I was just looking through the manual again and it recommends a Class 10 card or greater if using 0.5 sec burst mode. Don't think that will be a feature I'll be using much.
PierBridge
LOL. I don't wear a mask thats why I want the Chesty. My UIC's will freak out bad enough with that but no way could I wear it on my head! At least when they are around. Speaking of burst and the 10 shots per second feature there seems to be a big difference in class 4 SD versus class 10 SD in my limited testing so far! I woosed out last night at the Club "lifetime" I had both the Kodak Playsport and the GoPro and couldn't get myself to jump in the pool with either... PierBridge
I haven't done any Video work as of yet. I just noticed a bit better picture quality throughout the 10 still-shot 1-second sequence with my class 10 versus my 4 gig class 4 card. I think you'll be fine for the most part on Video. I may order that same card you have here too. I'm thinking about heading down to the Red Bull Crashed Ice event and try to lasso a rider to wear the camera tomorrow ..
