Opener weather

Recommended Posts

North central MN...mid 50's!?

We can't catch a break with the weather. The year I have ONE day to hunt with my boys and she throws this windy, warm day at us!

I guess just make sure we are in that stand the first and last couple hours!

Good luck everyone!

Look at the positives Monkster......although it may be warm and wind, Saturday will be the day before a "storm", which means that a front is on the way. This should help to get the deer moving before they prepare to hunker down to wait out the weather. If the does are moving, the bucks should follow.

Not ideal weather, but ya gotta make the most of it right?

I'm not exactly tickled about the weather either, although the wind direction predicted for Saturday is good for the stand I really want to sit in. Bad news is, the tree sticks way the heck above the others around, and it's on a high spot besides. If it's as windy as the forecast, it's going to be like shooting from the deck of a ship. If it has to be warm, I hope there's at least some significant cloud cover so they aren't out all night and laid up during the day, because I like the 70% illumination even less than I like the warm temps.

Maybe just me, but I've always thought the day AFTER a front has been better for deer hunting than the day before (unlike fish, where the pre-front activity is better). Could be where/how I hunt though.

Either way, I can already feel something...some kind of bug. Mongolian Death Flu, or rickets or lumbago or something...who knows?

Whatever it is, I can already tell that by Monday, there's no way I'll be well enough to go to work...

wink

Monkster......you got that right! My son will be rifle hunting with me next year and I can't wait. I have had him in the bow blind with me quite a few times, and even when the hunt is bad and we dont see any deer, it is still one of my best hunts.

RK....Call in to work on Monday and tell them that you have Anal Glaucoma. Its main symptom is you not being able to see your arse going to work!!! smile
