Farley Posted November 9, 2011 Author Share Posted November 9, 2011 Yeah he used a rub that tasted similar to taco seasoning, he sprinkled some on the fried sweet potatoes so we could taste it. i thought that was brilliant. But then he had the mop sauce, some homemade BBQ sauce and a finishing sauce. But all that and I dont think his was that much better, just had a hint more flavor on the bark and that what put it over the top. If I would have injected about 2 hours later in the process and got that burbon flavor in there, I think I would have won.His sides were off the charts as well, buffalo chicken mac & cheese, and some kind of grilled pumpkin dip served on deep fried sweet potatoes. Didn't see much but i managed to get a decent 6 point Sunday night.I'm pumped to have fresh meat so i can cook another batch of neighbor_guy's venision pastromi recipe! There are so many speciality chili powders, (some made from one variety of pepper and some blended) that you can get some unique flavors.I bet next years contest will be a doozy.
