I have shot deer while setting a stand before, had to climb down and grab my bow and release.I have also shot many deer the same day the stand was set some within minutes of getting the bow in the tree. Keep your scent to a minimum and trim just enough to get the shot but not tip off the deer something is new.

I agree, often times it can be your best stand right away. I shot my biggest buck ever 4 hours after I moved a stand to a new location. Don't hesitate. During the rut, they are preoccupied and seem to be more careless of their surroundings.

Agreed, one of the best times to see and shoot a deer is the first sit in a newly hung stand. Take care in remaining as scent free as possible and quiet as you can while hanging the stand and you should be good to go!
