Mail app for android?

Recommended Posts

The built in email app works just fine (Corporate Sync). That's what I use and it works flawlessly with Exchange 2010. There are known issues if his company is still stuck on Exchange 2003 or even 2007 with out any service packs.

Just remember with Touchdown if that phone needs to be wiped because it was lost/stolen via his company's exchange server (I assume that is what they are using) it will not wipe the phone only the email portion of it.

All pictures, texts, contacts etc will still be available to whoever finds it/stole it.

I'm getting my info second hand, but from what I understand there is no apparent way to forward an email, or send a photo attached to a message.

My gmail app works wonderful on android, but he is using a corporate email on the mail app that came on the phone. Maybe it's just him??

+1 for Touchdown. It costs $20 I think, but it's considerably better than the native email app on my android phone (Samsung Epic). I like the widget as well were I can switch between email, tasks, calendar etc. all on one of the main screens. A very solid program.

I can't edit the original message when I forward or reply. My wife returned her Android and went back to her Iphone (evidently you can on an Iphone) after she discovered this.

Sure you can. Just click on 'forward' and then 'respond inline'.

Edit: this only applies to gmail accounts. Not sure if that is what you were referring too.

There is nothing wrong with the native email app within Android. Not sure why so many have issues with it.

I guess that's why they make iPhones...

I agree, if you are forwarding an email why do you need to edit the forwarded material?

I am able to forward a message and add text and attachments just not able to edit the forwarded material. But if you are forwarding why do you need to???

All depends on the Android itself and the exchange server its trying to handshake with. After upgrading my company to Exchange 2010. I had a user who's Android's built-in mail app would not make the SSL handoff without erroring. Once we demo'd touchdown, it worked perfectly. No other android users in the company had this issue so I ruled out SSL/Exchange server. He was running a pretty old android tho...but seeing touchdown worked he ended up buying it so he didnt have to be forced into a new phone.

Exchange 2010 and 2007 are very friendly to mobile devices such as smartphones and IPod / IPad tablet devices. Exchange 2003 needed SP2 installed to aid mobile device accessibility but once that was installed it was pretty smooth. For those wanting to get connected to a corporate account, it's a good idea to find out what version of Exchange they are on.

There are a few good step by step articles on the web about creating your own security certificate if you need to but most people ignore the certificate when setting up the email account.

In the few cases I've had trouble with the native client on the smartphone not being able to connect to Exchange, Touchdown has been the ' magic bullet ' and worked flawlessly.

A few people have complained about battery life after the corporate email account was setup, a person might can change sync intervals if this is the case, that should conserve some battery life.

Yeah got it working with a self signed cert. Going to get the real McCoy as we did for the other server so that folks don't see the error with OWA.

But go figure did mine first and had to reset all the permission to my account. Didn't need to change anything, but needed to reset them. Also mine is a Exchange 2003 account moved to Exchange 2010 so that could be an issue(hope not we have about 400 accounts and probably a quarter use smart phones. There have been a few issues with going from 2003 to 2010 as they really aren't that similar in how they do things. This has been worse than going from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 in how many little buggy things you need to iron out.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
