What are some good dip baits to use?

I started to get back into catfishing this year. We started using dip baits and it's worked quite well with the dip worms. Any one know of good dip baits to use?

Here's what I've tried and found.

Sonny's- Blood & regular worked awsome.

Uncle josh's little stinker- Liver worked well.

Doc's-Liver didn't work worth a broke Di@k.

Any body know of some other good dip baits?

I used the secret 7 with team catfish's fury thing hooks (basically a circle hook with hard wiskers that hold the dip bait in place). I have tried the worms in the past and the bait seems to wash off to fast with these. the fury things held the bait the best in my opinion.

The best thing I found to use is a hollow tube worm with holes in it and a sponge over the trebble hook if you're fishing in a current. Dip it in the sonnys and throw it in the river current. Last about 15min. If I'm in a lake/pond/gravel pit that doesn't have any current the plain old plastic worms work fine.

By the way Congrats on your nice cat. I finally got the juice flowing again to catfish after a trip to our local 7 acre gravel pit by town that was turned into a park. Took my two little kids and caught a 3lb cat. So a buddy and i started to fish this 7 acre pit for about two weeks. So far we've caught and fillet a couple 1.5-2lb, 1-3.75 lb, 1-4.5lb, 2-5lb, 1-6lb and last night I landed a 7.25 lb cat. We let the 7.25 go. According to the DNR Survey of the pit there are a couple big flat heads in the 10-15lb range we're trying to catch. Haven't hooked a flat head outta the pit yet though.

We had 4 poles out every time we went with little stinker liver dip, Sonny's blood dip & Docs liver dip. Most bites came on sonny's and a couple on little stinker. Docs never even got a sniff.

I used to use Bowkers and had great success with it.

I walked into a little podunk true value in one of our small towns and they had bowkers. It wasn't cheap, but I picked up a jar. It will be interesting to see if it is better then sonnys.

Have you tried the old wiskers catfish bait or that junnie's wicked sticky.

If they aren't biting on Sonny's they aren't biting at all.

I'll agree that Sonny's is the nuts. Got out a little tonight for a few hours and tried a couple of different Dip baits on different Rods.

Sonny's Blood= 1 bite

Bowkers= 4 bites

Premio Blood=0 2 bites

Uncle Josh little stinker liver= 0 bites

Junnies wicked sticky= 1 bite

Overall though this season the sonny's has been the best dip bait.

Most of them were really light bites, but had a few better ones on the Bowkers. Kinda feel like a dumb @$$ though, between me and my buddy we missed every one. Had a good laugh though my buddy reel in a fairly good log that he thought was a fish.

Just came across this thread, and wanted to input my $0.02. I have used about 5 different dip baits over the years on the Crow River and I swear by Strike King's Catfish Dynamite! It is unique in the fact that it's texture is more like soupy creamy peanut butter that has been in the sun for half a day. It is super easy to just slap a worm or furry thang hook in there and even the smallest and flimsiest of twigs will stir it just fine. Other good baits are T.C Secret 7, and Aunt Junies Wicked Sticky bait (and the "sewer" type for fast current as well). My opinion is that if you can flex the whole container and the bait does not hold the flexed shape, or it is not stiff and hard, then you got good bait. Should be about like McDonalds ice cream! Oh and its potent if you sniff it and lose your gut into the container, it was a good selling point with Catfish Dynamite for me lol.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
