we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted October 6, 2011 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted October 6, 2011 Do any of you use your Arctic Armor camo suit for hunting?I saw a post that reminded me of a deer hunt with Tom H and a few duck hunts with my son in my camo AA suit.Gotta tell ya it was spot on, warm and dry...especially with the possibility of going in while Duck Hunting...AA Camo floats. Here is the thread where I read the last post about hunting..... Gordie
My next clothing purchase will be AA camo for this reason as I like the late season hunting and staying warm is what counts and staying a float could mean life or death...
Finlander
That's what I want to purchase for my next suit for hunting and fishing!
HugoBox
I have one and love it. Have used it for the past 5 or so years. The only complaint I'd have is that the pockets on the jacket don't quite open up enough for a box of 3 inch shells. Clearly that's if I totally knit-pick. I do think you can tell when wearing the jacket that its definitely a suit made for fishing that was done in camo - if that makes sense. Slightly different design for easier swinging would help. I also tested it this summer - my bro took a plunge off the dock just to make sure it floats. He's a biggish guy and my 8 year old crawled up on him in the suit like a raft and he still floated just fine. Late in the year I don't leave the ramp without it. Even it the weather is warm I wear it in addition to the normal PFD. Can you tell I had a close call in cold water a few years ago??
CrappieAttitude
I have the suit and love it for hunting. It is the absolute warmest thing I own and you don't have to bulk up on layers. The technology behind it is quite amazing. When I first got it, I thought..."how can this light jacket be warm?"...Well they figured it out and it works very well. Sometimes it is too warm (if you are moving at all) and it doesn't like to breath that well. Make sure you have a light fleece layer and it will help out a great deal. As for Ice fishing, I have to say that the camo brushed / soft material tends to get snow buildup and the snow dust from the snowmobile tends to stick to it. With that in mind the fact that I know the suit will keep me from becoming bottem structure on early ice, it is worth its weight in gold. However after the ice becomes vehicle travel worthy, I tend to use my Strikemaster Suit for ice fishing. CA
