Do any of you use your Arctic Armor camo suit for hunting?

I saw a post that reminded me of a deer hunt with Tom H and a few duck hunts with my son in my camo AA suit.

Gotta tell ya it was spot on, warm and dry...especially with the possibility of going in while Duck Hunting...

AA Camo floats.

Here is the thread where I read the last post about hunting.....

I have one and love it. Have used it for the past 5 or so years. The only complaint I'd have is that the pockets on the jacket don't quite open up enough for a box of 3 inch shells. Clearly that's if I totally knit-pick. I do think you can tell when wearing the jacket that its definitely a suit made for fishing that was done in camo - if that makes sense. Slightly different design for easier swinging would help. I also tested it this summer - my bro took a plunge off the dock just to make sure it floats. He's a biggish guy and my 8 year old crawled up on him in the suit like a raft and he still floated just fine. Late in the year I don't leave the ramp without it. Even it the weather is warm I wear it in addition to the normal PFD. Can you tell I had a close call in cold water a few years ago?? whistle

I have the suit and love it for hunting. It is the absolute warmest thing I own and you don't have to bulk up on layers. The technology behind it is quite amazing. When I first got it, I thought..."how can this light jacket be warm?"...Well they figured it out and it works very well. Sometimes it is too warm (if you are moving at all) and it doesn't like to breath that well. Make sure you have a light fleece layer and it will help out a great deal.

As for Ice fishing, I have to say that the camo brushed / soft material tends to get snow buildup and the snow dust from the snowmobile tends to stick to it. With that in mind the fact that I know the suit will keep me from becoming bottem structure on early ice, it is worth its weight in gold. However after the ice becomes vehicle travel worthy, I tend to use my Strikemaster Suit for ice fishing.

Thanks for joining in. I thought the Arctic Armor Camo suits would work well for waterfowlers smile

Hard to beat a AA camo suit for that wet day on the stand archery hunting.

I have done it quite a few times and the suit works well.

how noisy is it? i have never worn one but I can't imagine they are very quiet

    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
