I have two of those rods and love them. Might be hard to find someone that wants to get rid of those. Since I can't find them anymore either, I did switch to TB and they are right on par and well worth the look. You won't be disappointed.

unfortunaltly st. croix no longer sells the avid series in the ice rod line-up. they only sell/manafacture the legend and premeire series. what is it that you are looking for? a walleye or pike/laker rod? while TB makes an absolutley beautiful rod, how many ice fishermen are on a budget now days? as a full time guide, i still can't see myself going with running those rods! i used to run all st. croix ice rods as with the open water set-ups, but found that many premeire series rods had tip-tops that were placed offset to the rest of the eyes and had numerous legend series tips break when bent!! the warranty did cover the rods but at the same price that the rods were worth!! i since have switched over to Frabill Bro series rod... they offer a 28" med combo spinning for around $45.00. they also offer the Ice Hunter series in a 26" med. combo. there is even a quick-tip version of each if you dont like the use of a bobber. really it's in the eye of the beholder!! what your purpose is for and how much you wanna spend! Frabill runs a great rod at an AFFORDABLE price!! afterall they have trusted gear since 1938!! how long has TB been going for? now if your looking for a casting style rod for lakers, then go with either a st.croix premeire or the jason mitchell mackinaw rod from (clam corp)?this year i'm switching over from the st. croix premeire casting set-up to the frabill icehunter series spinning..... again its your choice. hope this helps!

Depending on what you are looking for, I bought a Jason Mitchell Meatstick last year and really like it.

The JM rods seems like a good balance between price/quality. The Bro Series Frabill's look solid. Thorne Bros would be my choice for a premium rod.
