hey guys, i found a killer spot for geese but i cant figure out if its legal to hunt. i tried about six C.O. officers from the area and none answered their phones. the spot is public land near a small lake. the issue is a highway runs within fifty yards of the lake in that particular spot. i just would like to know if i can legally shoot my shotgun that close to the highway. the road itself is about forty feet straight up a bank and my shots would obviously be the other direction. thanks for any help!!

Actually Minn. Stat. §97B.055 only indicates that you can't shoot across a roadway at a big game animal or a decoy. Does anyone have a citation to a statute that controls for shooting birds across a roadway?

Not saying that it's a good idea, or suggesting that anyone do it, but I'm not so sure that it is illegal to shoot across a roadway at a bird.

As far as I can tell, Tom is correct. Shooting of any kind is illegal from or across a roadway if at a big game animal or decoy.

I would say that finding out from a CO is the best, but at this point, there is nothing in the hunting regs that prevent you from shooting small game or unprotected species from a roadway and that means you are acting in good faith of the law.
