Open water jigging spoons for walleyes

I just read an interesting article about jigging spoons on infisherman's site which got me wondering...do any of you use jigging spoons as one of their regular go-to method/technique? I can't say that I have ever tried, but the more I think about it, the more I like the sounds of it. I'm thinking they could be more effective by tipping them with a minnow-head or a whole fathead? Any favorites?

A lot of times in October/November I tip a treble hooked jigging spoon with half a fat head, and catch lots of wallyes. Typically fishing in 25-30 feet as slow as possible. I do this when the fish are interested in smaller baits on slow days.

I've had the best of luck with "Easy Prey" spoons. Perch/Firetiger, Gold, and Rainbow Trout are my favorite go to colors.

I just read that article. I was surprised because they often quoted Rob Schultz of G&S marina from Last Mountain Lake. I was just fishing with him last weekend. We caught 40-50 walleyes last saturday. Many of them on jigging spoons. We had our best luck with one called a "Fergie". Where ever we found the walleyes we would snap the spoon at least 2 feet up and the walleyes would smack it while it fluttered down.
