2001 115 mercury cooling

how to you know if the water pump is bad or if something is clogged? It sprays water most the time but isn't the strongest spray the wife did run it through the sand when unloading it. Is there a way to flush the system? One time when it stopped I ran it in reverse and it started spraying again any ideas thanks

If its a 2001 and you have not had a new impeller and water pump put in its time anyways. I just put both in my 2002 yamaha 115 4 stroke and its a big difference in the amount of pressure of the water that comes out. It wasnt bad before but after I saw my old impeller I was amazed it was doing as good as it was. New fuel filter is also a good idea.

You be right Northlander. I have the same stuff scheduled for my 2002 Yammi (same as yours) and a few other simple things.

Great motors aren't they!! Mine still starts as fast as I can let go of the key!!

Wondering what a dealer would charge to get this done. I'm very handy with a wrench thinking of trying it my self watched a few videos doesnt look that tough

I had some other goodies done so I cant remember what it was. Not too bad and the worst of it was the labor.

That messed me up big time the first time I change my water impellor. A cruel trick by the engineers by hiding it there.

Done really wanted to try and do it but everyone in town referred me to a local guy and he did it for 75 bucks with a warranty couldnt pass it up
