The biggest difference is in the detail. Lots of Lakemaster is at 1' contours now. Navionics is 3' in some areas. Really besides that there isnt much difference that Im aware of on mine. Both are very good if you get this years. Check their websites and see who has the better detail in the areas you fish the most.

I've had Navs for my humminbird 997, they have 1ft contours on most major lakes throughout the whole five state area. I also now have the new lakemaster chip for Voyager Nat. Park, With that I get 1ft contours, 10 different depth colors, bigger depth numbers but no names on Islands, which helps when navigating big water for the first time. Hope this helps.

If you fish in south central MN (Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, Freeborn, LeSueur, Martin, Nicollet, Rice, Sibley, Steele, Waseca counties) then LakeMaster is definitely the way to go. Navionics maps for the lakes in these counties are terrible. I think they are nothing more than questionable 50-year old DNR maps.

I also have both chips (both a few years old), and I agree they both offer different pluses. The navionics has more lakes, including lake michigan which I fish a few times a summer. I like the navionics chip for the st croix river, while the lake master for the mille lacs is unbeatable. I fish rush lake in chisago county quite often, and my navionics has 1 foot contours while the lake master is 5 foot. This may have changed in the newer chips.
