Tractor tire

Recommended Posts

This might be for the garden section, being it is a riding mower question... but more for the mechanics and tire experts. I have an old Snapper rider with 18x6.5x8 tire size, and the tire keeps going flat after about a day. So it needs to be fixed. No nail or noticable leak, lots of cracks in tire.

anyway... that is very odd size tire that nobody has, and special order would be $80... yikes. The tube is $25, yikes again... Replacing both rears with common size would be about $40 per tire.... again yikes....

so my question is, if I woudl try that "inflate a flat" type foam spray in a can, would it ruin the rim if it doesn't work? Or should I just get a tube from the start.

Thanks for advice!

Since it is a low speed tire, you could try the fix a flat stuff in there. But if it doesnt work, expect the person that is going to fix it after that to not like you very much. I have put them in my atv tires with great success. But I have also had to replace one on them tires later on, and I wasnt a fan of cleaning all of it out of there.

When I had it re-mounted, it seemed to hold air for a week, until I used it last weekend, then it lost air. So not sure I am going to be able to find the leak with it off the tractor/weight on it. I think maybe just get the tube. I don't feel like cleaning the gunk out when I mess it up, haha!

Thanks!
