Processing Bear

Recommended Posts

Call me over confident but I plan on harvesting me a big old black bear on opening day which is a thursday. Anyone know of a good place to take a bear near Willow River MN. Somewhere with a cooler that can process the bear for me??? That would be open on a thursday night???

You could do it your self, just like a deer except, Shoot, gut, hang, skin, quarter, cool down in fridge or freezer, next day is just like a deer processing how ya like. Cant stress enough to get the hide of ASAP. Evfen if you have a long drive from site to processor. Good luck

Kev, there is Clyde Anderson in Holyoke. He does Taxidermy full time and I have had numerous items done by him. He use to charge $50 to skin it and put it in his cooler for the nite if he has room. Or he would skin it for free if he got to keep the hide or if you had him do a mount. The other person is Mike Tubbs just East of Sandstone. He butchers livestock and wild game. If you stop off at Sandstone the gas station has is info pinned up. I would call both of these guys as soon as you can and ask them if they will be around. These guys know how it is with bear hunting as far as getting out of the woods late. I usually call them once I shoot the bear to make sure they will be around later for me to drop it off. If you talk to them tell the Jim Taylor referred you.

Where are you hunting? Our place is off limits now per our extensive whitetail management system currently in place. laugh

Oh, I take that back, you do need to shoot those black things that keep ripping up our trail cams. I hope you have this problem to deal with........

I'll check around and ask around this weekend.
