Deer Cane?

Anybody have any experience with this Deer Cane?

I put some in front of my trail camera and was wondering how well it will work.

It should work fine. Its really just expensive salt. They'll eat it up.

IMO Lucky Buck is the stuff! Its got more minerals and nutritional value than just salt. It smells like cherry Koolaid so its a good cover scent around your cameras and the deer will pick up the smell way off! Its about $25 after shipping for a 2 gal pail.

I put about a cup in front of my cameras.... 3 months later there'll be a crater big enough to drop a tractor tire in! (exageration) But its really good stuff for stopping them and for a nutritional supplement!

I like the Trophy rocks too.... but then you need to use all or nothing kinda...? Better for actual "mineral sites".

i have used it and works good. i just bought some whitetail institute 30-06 mineral i really like it.

I think Deer Cane has some biological stuff in it that might prevent hunting over it. Be sure to read the ingredients list (like an ornery C.O. would) if you're thinking about that as a possibility.

Won't be hunting over it as there isn't a place where a tree stand could be put!

Save your money toss a 50 pound bag of salt out before the rain works the same in my experience

Regarding the latter, the rule of thumb to use is there food in it? Food of any kind, including sugar = illegal. Salt, minerals, artificial flavors = legal. At least this is what has been explained to me by the DNR.

There are a couple different products from Deer Cane so certain ones are legal and certain ones aren't.

Anything that is remotely like food is illegal to hunt over. Artificial flavors are still illegal. It has to be mineral only.

I've good luck using Deer Cain as a mineral site, but if you are planning on doing multiple sites you're better off mixing your own or just buying livestock salt.
