I need to go about 6 feet from the current shut off valve - doubt that the make a braided line that long. Shut off is in the basement - I suppose I could move it up to the area where the washer is.

Tom,not sure right here and now, because I used the braided stainless line at our cabin and I'm not there, but my shut off is in the basement and I think it very well could be six feet from the dishwasher. I think I got it at the "M" big box store.

It's a nomenclature thing. If you search for stainless steel lines you pretty much end up in a small loop. If you call them dishwasher installation kits you can find them all over. You'd think the Google could make the leap, but perhaps I didn't go far enough into the 167,512 matches to find the proper name.

Thanks for the help. Clean dishes will be possible soon.

I was just doing a kitchen remodel not too big thought painted walls and cabinets. And new SS dishwasher. This same things happened to me but noticed it before I ever took it out had to have been like that previously tryed to install it the way it was but started leaking so fixed it. Mine was not 6' but probably about 4' I used two SS braineded pieces togther they were about 5 bucks each at Men-ards. Works better than copper in my opinion so now I can pull it out easier when needed. Hope it helps!

What I found out was that those longer braided lines are kept over by the appliances, not by all the other ones for sinks. The best part about it was that they had a "kit" that had a number of different fittings and so I was able to get it set up quickly and correctly. I think it cost around $19 at HD.
