Test baits

Shame on me for not knowing this, but wat are the legalities for test baits, thinking for the first time on puting out a few in some eastern sites I have, just see whats happinging. If its legal to do so. I think it is but wana know about distance from the intended site an time of shut down prior to hunting registerd site ect. I had heard a mile from site yur gona register. Wish i could call. Boar

THe way i understand you could bait all year you just can "claim" the spot by putting up a sign. So for instance you bait a spot all year and someone beats you to it come legal baiting time you are SOL. I would get the final word from a CO but that is how I understand it.

Hey Boar...you cannot place a bait within 100 yards of any site baited prior to the start of baiting in mid-August...here's the rule from the legislative HSOforum...

Subp. 4.Restriction on hunting near bear bait station. A person may not hunt bear within 100 yards of a bear bait station unless it is registered and marked with a sign as required by this part.

Subp. 5.Bear bait stations near garbage dumps. A person may not take bear or establish a bear bait station within one-half mile of a garbage dump.

Subp. 6.Bear bait stations near previously baited areas. A person may not establish a bear bait station within 100 yards of a site where bait has been placed prior to the Friday nearest August 14.

Thats what I was looking for, new I had seen it some where, thats gota be the green booklet thats seperate from the actual hunting regs. Thats got the registrations site forms in it. Thanks fox. later baor
