Hello,

Does anyone know of a local person that can fix broken guides on fishin rods? The top guide broke on my Shimano Compre and it's about 2 years old.

You can buy the tips at most stores and glue also. Just saw end off square with fine saw and glue new one on.

Thorne Bros will hook me up for $5. I did talk to Shimano and they would replace it and it's like 5 yrs old with no reciept, but $30 to ship and they are on back order till Aug.

You just have to heat up the tip with a lighter and while wearing a pair of leather gloves just pull the tip off. Buy a kit and melt some glue on the tip and put the new tip on while its hot and cool it down. If you don't like how it is sitting you can heat it up and move it. Here is a example of the Fuji kit.

The compre has an unconditional warrantee, just take it into any store that sells them and they will give you a new one right off the rack.

I spoke to Cabela's and they won't exchange it like they used to. I brought my broken Calarus (sp?) and replaced it with the Compre and $15 cash 5yrs ago at Cabelas.

I need to go to the north side of the city anyways and Thorne Bros said they would do it on site.

Keep in mind there are different quality tips. If you're using braid don't get the cheap tip or it will put grooves in it. Thorne is a good place to go though, I've bought a couple tips from them in the past.

Thats strange- they told me $15 to put a tip on. I think I will do it myself for about $5...

Midwest Rod and Reel in Prior Lake could also get it done for a very reasonable price.

As stated above, if your running braid, use a good tip.
