Boat hit by careless driver. Now what?

if it was his fault he would be responsible for the damages caused including his property (vehicle, boat etc) his insurance will take care of the other persons property up to the policy limits and if he had insurance on his boat and collision coverage on his vehicle his insurance would cover those also but if no collision coverage and no boat policy then that is on him.

i would think my liability would cover other persons damaged property, i would just disagree on anything else other than that (except medical)

just curious, what if he was at fault with his boat, does he lose everything in that case without insurance?

If he was at fault for a motor vehicle accident and as a result the boat was damaged... maybe he'd lose everything, maybe not.

With full coverage, his insurance would cover the repairs over the deductible, and most companies would not cover the boat, but some would, and some offer special coverage to include towed objects and whatnot.

With liability only, he'd be on his own for his own property, both truck and boat.

with no insurance at all, he'd be responsible for the other party's damages, and on his own for his own property too. Likely in this case the other party would utilize their own coverage (if they had adequate coverage ie collision/comp/liability) who would subrogate the at fault party, which often involves courts. In my experience with these situations, it takes years to collect.
