Spincast reels

I was thinking about buying my wife and daughter new spincast reels, since they don't seem to like spinning gear. Any thoughts about what's decent, but not too high priced, since the reels won't be used too much and when they are used, it'll mostly be for panfish, with an occasional Bass or Walleye or "kittie" hunt. Had thought about the Zebco Gold 33. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I would look at a different reel. I bought my wife a 33 combo last year and it had the bronze colored 33 on it. The anti reverse went out the first time out. I then bought a diawa colbalt. So far so good.

Get her a bait caster. After a few casts with that she will beg you for a spinning reel. Got my daughter a synergy titanium Ti14 reel and it seems to work pretty well. I use it when she is not with me and it is a great guest rig for people that dont normally fish

bought my wife a daiwa silvercast combo for $50. Very little use but so far so good...infact, she caught a 27" fatty walleye on it not to long ago!

i read a product review awhile back - in-fisherman or walleye-insider, i think - that rated the silvercast as the best spincast reel.

i have been planning on getting the SO one since she refuses to use a spinning reel and a baitcaster is out of the question, but the old zebco 33 i gave her about 10 years ago just wont die. she even catches walleyes with it.

she has a newer 33 on her No. 2 pole but its a lot cheaper made than the old 33s.

Just a quick update on the spincast reel debate. I ended up buying her a Shakespeare Titanium Synergy model, only to open up the clam package and discover that the on/off button was defective and easily fell from the on to off position. Took it back yesterday and replaced it, but haven't had a chance for her to try it yet. Will try to remember to have a report on it after it is used. Seems like a nice little reel, otherwise, if someone is looking for something similar for a child, spouse or whatever.

Good Fishin' everybody!!!
