Voyageurs, or Leech

Got some time scheduled for a trip in early June, but trying to decide between Voyageurs Park, or Leech (Stony Point CG).

I like the wilderness aspect of Voyageurs, but my buddy is a meat monger and has better luck with keeper size fish on Leech.

Thoughts?

I'd say Leech for sure. We do an annual guys trip that I had to miss last year for my son's birth, and they had a great trip on Leech. We are doing the same trip this year and there's no way I'm going to miss it. The fishing on Leech has been great!

If your heading to leech and plan to stay at Stoney Point, you better make sure they have room. That place fills up pretty fast.

There is a resort by Stoney that has reasonable camping rates if Stoney is full.c63

I'm a fan of Voyagers. In June your buddy will be able to eat his fill of walleyes and take a few home. At that time, the smallmouth bite fires up. I'm with you I love the more wild atmosphere of Voyagers. There are lots of great resorts on the west end of Kabby or you could head out on the lake and camp on one of the many campsites.

I would vote Rainy lake. Fantastic fishing and the best scenery in the state in my opinion. Be up there middle of next week for trip number one of the year.

I'm leaning towards Voyageurs. It's more then fishing for me. I enjoy the wildness camping as much. Lots more work and further to drive though

My vote would be Rainy as well. The smallmouth and pike fishing should be an added bonus in between catching walleyes. There is a lot more structure to cover which can make it a little harder to fish, but you can't beat that Canadian-like atmosphere!

My only problem with Voyeageurs is the size limit, some days its darn near impossible to find any keeper fish. Tons of fat 20+inchers though.

Rainy is a good choice and the fishing is super. The only downside to Rainy is that the close in campsites get quickly taken and you may have to go down lake to find one. Rainy is big water and June can provides some weather blowups.

Agreed, Leech is the place. No Walleyes to be found around Kab.

Bite was extremely slow on Kab. Great camping trip but very few fish.
