CC Hurl
Hi folks I was just wondering if a guy can use crab apple wood for smoking fish or is it not a good idea? I just trimmed my tree yesterday and have lots of it. If it works for smoking I want to keep it. Thanks for your time.
reinhard1
i'm not the resident smoking expert but i dont see why you cant use that wood. heck i used grape vines wrapped throughout my wooded area in the back yard. they are anywhere from 1 to 2 inches thick. wild grapes. some where getting into some of my pines and i cut some off and cut them in 10 inch pieces. good luck. RebelSS
I've used my crabapple wood for years, but I usually dry it for at least 6 months.
KEN W
You can basically use any wood except pine....unless you like the taste of pitch.
CC Hurl
Thanks for the replies everyone. Looks like I will be hanging on to it for use this winter. Thanks again.
fivebucks
I always take the bark off of all wood I use to smoke to make it less bitter. If they are freshly cut now would be the time to de-bark it.
